I never really remembered much from my childhood but reading your memories unearthed mine, joyful and painful, and I want to thank you for that. Your writing changed my definition of a memoir and so deeply touched me it's my goal to thank you in person one day.

Fan for life,

					<description>Hi Kevin,

I ran out to Women &amp;#38; Children's First in Chicago to put the book on reserve the first moment I heard about your book two years ago. I've read it often and find it one of the most beautiful and relateable memoirs for any gay man, especially one as fabulous as myself. When are you writing your next book? You know you still have chapters and chapters to catch us up on.

I'm a 24 year old student in Chicago and have been documenting the lives and specific realities of self-identified effeminate gay men, across the country of different ages and backgrounds, for the past four years. I'd love to have a chance to speak with you if possible! I scoped out all over ways to contact you, but figured your blog might be the best bet. Please email me at randalljenson@gmail.com if you'd like to be interviewed. I believe you'd have so much to say!

					<description>Kevin,

I recently completed reading Sissy and all I can say is WOW and GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!! The similiarities are striking between our lives (down to the Pi Kappa Alpha experience in a neighboring state!). I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book and look forward to your next one.

					<description>kevin,

we are reading mississippi sissy for our october 08 selection for the southern stories bookclub at a branch library here in huntsville, alabama
i was surprised that this was picked by our leader but she was looking for stories from all aspects of living in the south
i identify whole heartedly with the book - i grew up in little 30,000 peopled greer, south carolina and really had a time of it
my main memory that came forth as i read was begging for a &quot;julia&quot; doll when i was only 5 or 6 years old right there in the department store and having my parents direct me to a big ole yellow tonka dump truck - i got the truck for christmas - it was years later as an adult and the discovery of ebay before i got my &quot;julia&quot; doll

i identified a lot with the book and the shame of growing up different and i am glad that you can put it all it words for those of us who can't
thank you,

<description>Feel led to drop you a note for two reasons---I discovered your book this week and bought it. It was absolutely wonderful and I could relate to it on so many levels---being a couple of years older than you and a South Carolina sissy although a pretty butch one I like to think------and having been a big fan of &quot; What's My Line&quot; and Arlene Francis and even Skeeter Davis! I also live just a few miles from Pawley's Island and my best friend lives right there--so I was glad to read you discovered the beauty of Pawley's as well as the beauty of Charleston! Do hope you will be able to visit and enjoy it again soon. Also hope you will soon update your blog as I have enjoyed spending a good part of my Sunday afternoon reading it and the archives! Thanks again for the wonderful book that certainly reminded me so much of my own childhood and my Southern background!</description>
